The Glendale Educational Foundation is presenting the 10th Annual State of the Schools Breakfast to showcase the accomplishments of the Glendale Unified School District on October 2, 2014 at the Edison/Pacific Community Center, 435 S. Pacific Ave., at 7 a.m.
The new Science & Technology focus will be rolled out – “I3” and there will be robots on display from the high school robotics programs. Entertainment will be provided by the Elementary Honors Orchestra – using instruments provided by the GEF Save the Music program. Closing the event will be the outstanding Hoover High School Marching Band.
The Presenting Sponsor for the seventh year is The Walt Disney Company. Repeating for the fifth year with a significant donation is Pacific BMW, being featured as the 2014 GEF Distinguished Donor. Leading sponsors include the Arturo Sandoval Institute, Stone-Beck Group/Morgan Stanley, Hutchinson & Bloodgood, Page & Karen Whyte, and Star Ford/Gregg Bussjaeger Memorial Foundation. Over 55 tables have been sponsored by various local companies, individuals and clubs.
Dr. Richard Sheehan, Superintendent of Schools, will share District successes, and feature students in his address as he did last year. Teacher of the Year 2013-14 Pamela Zamanis from Roosevelt Middle School and Teacher of the Year 2014-15 Win Saw of Crescenta Valley High School will be recognized with the Excellence in Education Awards. Mike Mooslin of Color Me Mine is the community recipient of this award for his outstanding support of elementary school art programs and projects.
Glendale Educational Foundation is celebrating 10 years of increasing support for GUSD in its three areas of focus – Visual and Performing Arts, Health & Fitness and Science & Technology.
