The Glendale Educational Foundation is presenting the 9th Annual State of the Schools Breakfast to showcase the accomplishments of the Glendale Unified School District on October 3, 2013 at the Edison/Pacific Community Center, 435 S. Pacific Ave., at 7 a.m.
The Save The Music Campaign will be the focus of the morning with student performances by Crescenta Valley High School Jazz Band, and Marching Band. Save the Music is well on its way to meeting its goal of $500,000 in support of elementary music programs in the District. GUSD has always had a robust music program, and Save The Music will ensure its continued success.
The leading sponsor for the sixth year is The Walt Disney Company. Repeating for the fourth year with a significant donation is Pacific BMW, being featured as the 2013 GEF Distinguished Donor. Leading sponsors include the Arturo Sandoval Institute, Stone-Beck Group/Morgan Stanley, Woodbury University, Page & Karen Whyte, Bloomingdale’s and Star Ford/Gregg Bussjaeger Memorial Foundation. Over 65 tables have been sponsored by various local companies, individuals and clubs.
Dr. Richard Sheehan, Superintendent of Schools, will share District successes, and feature students in his address as he did last year. Teacher of the Year 2012-13 Olivia Macaulay from Glendale High School will be recognized as well as other community supporters.
Glendale Educational Foundation is celebrating 9 years of increasing support for GUSD in its three areas of focus – Visual and Performing Arts, Health & Fitness and Science & Technology.
