Since 2005, the Glendale Educational Foundation has been supplementing programing throughout our district.
The Glendale Unified School District is rich in cultural diversity and is recognized as a leader in dual immersion language programs. We boast 32 schools, 26 of which have been honored as California Distinguished Schools.
Performing Arts Workshops - Antaeus Theatre Partnership
In 2023, thanks to the leadership of past GEF Board Member Jennifer Berry, GEF and GUSD launched a new partnership with the Antaeus Theater that brings dynamic, hands-on, theater-based education into the classroom for Glendale Unified School District students.
GUSD students took part in specialized classroom education and instruction, attended free matinee performances, and had the opportunity to connect, one-on-one, with the Antaeus team’s theater professionals.
Teacher Grants Program
The GEF Teacher Grant Program awards competitive grants of up to $1,000 to GUSD teachers who are seeking additional funding for classroom or school-wide projects/lessons, field trips, instructional materials, professional development opportunities, etc., within one of GEF’s three focus areas: health/wellness, arts, and science/technology/STEAM.
In 2023, 21 Teachers were awarded grants totaling $19,250.00 for projects ranging from Stage Makeup and Costumes to Financial Literacy Calculators and Year-end Outings for Special Needs students.
Student Grant Program
The GEF Student Grants Program was created to offer additional funding support to dynamic GUSD students who want to launch an inventive project that will benefit their classmates, their schools or the district, and for student groups in need of additional support to supplement an already existing program.
In the 2023 - 2024 school year, 22 students (or student teams) were awarded grants, totaling $18,500.
Helping Hands
In spring of 2024, GEF launched a new fundraiser, 'Helping Hands'. Created to support the most vulnerable in our community - foster youth, refugee families and students experiencing homelessness - this fundraiser will also ensure the sustainability of our Grants Programs and other forms of support for the Glendale Unified School District.
